This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Science. most importantly STEM, is one of the subjects that peak a student's interest as early as elementary school, motivating them to explore the various disciplines in this vast subject area.
Most elementary schools no longer have the time or materials to foster this early interest in science, using text books instead of hands-on investigations for lessons because there isn't funding.
I would love to bring science alive for my third graders by providing them with the experience of hatching chicks this spring. The egg incubator and supplies will allow students to experience the life cycle of a living thing instead of reading about it in a book. The students will have the opportunity to watch the embryo develop inside the egg. It will show them the beginning of a food chain and how it can impact the ecosystem.
