My students are curious about everything! They are just discovering a love for science. I know science is the key to many jobs they might pursue in their bright futures.
We have students who have tons of potential and the drive and desire to continue to grow as learners.
Our students show tremendous growth throughout the year, but usually are starting on average 1/2 to 1 year behind the average peer. We have a great mix of diversity in our school but the highest subgroup is our free/reduced price lunch students. Coming from a high poverty area, we have to cherish the resources we have and use them to the best of our abilities in the school.
We hatched baby quail in 2 out of 3 classrooms last year, and the project had a wonderful affect on student interest in anything related to science! This year we need 1 additional incubator so all three 3rd grade classrooms can join in on this once in a lifetime eggsperience! I want my students to come to school everyday excited to learn! Through this hatching project students will research and compare the lifecycle of different animals. Then students will present their learning. My students will improve their research skills, writing skills, science knowledge, data collecting, observation, and oral skills all while developing an appreciation for the miracle of life. Active engagement is the key to learning!
