My classroom is a place of inquiry and analysis. Students spend the year learning about American history through the analysis of various primary and secondary source documents.
Many of my students are from low economy families.
In addition, many are low functioning, sometimes two the three levels below their actual grade. The normal and old school way of teaching does not work for them. They need to learn in new and exciting ways that will engage them. To many, Social Studies is not an important subject to them.
My Project
Assessment is an everyday part of the students lives. It allows the teacher to see what skills they have mastered and what skills they need to still work on. Although assessing students has become mandatory throughout the school day, students find it to be tedious and boring. Due to this, they do not put their best effort forward. With the Eggspert Educational Insights device, students can have fun while being assessed. This will cause students to take more pride in their work as well as get better data. Eggspert will allow students to partake in game like assessments. One example is having students divided in to groups, Each groups will be given an Eggspert buzzer. As each group clicks in, the main device will light up to show which group has responded first to the question that has been posed. Another way of using this device is having students respond to assessment questions based on the color buzzer they click. All information gathered by the teacher during these assessments will be documented in the computer. The ink will be used to print out the data for the students assessment binders.
