My Project
This project will allow the students in my classroom to see the miracle of life! The egg scope is always a fascinating experience. Watching the chick form inside the egg and move about always brings the process to life. The 360 incubator will allow the students to witness the entire hatching process...even from home! Not only can they watch on all sides of the incubator, but I plan to livestream the hatching process during the after-school hours. This will provide the best opportunity for the students to witness the chicks hatching. The entire family can enjoy this experience.
The brooder and heater will provide a safe environment for the chicks after they have hatched.
The students always enjoy caring for the chicks in the classroom and listening to them while they work. The new heater will provide a safe place for the chicks to warm up. Raising chicks in the classroom provides so many learning opportunities beyond STEAM including responsibility and collaboration.
In the end this does become a school wide experience! Many classrooms come in to look inside the incubator periodically and we have a parade of students coming to see them when they have hatched! A new incubator will increase the percentage of chicks that hatch and the happy faces coming through our classroom!
