Help me give my students supplies to create a more efficient, organized classroom! Being able to transition from one activity to the next is extremely important, and these new iPads cases will help tremendously!
I am teaching some of the youngest learners and many of these kids have never had any formal education. Kindergarten is a time that sets the tone for a child's career in education, and I am hoping that these children develop a love of learning from the start.
This will be my second year teaching kindergarten and I have learned that efficiency is key!
There is so much to teach these kids, and not a lot of time to get it all in. Having supplies that are efficient makes all the difference.
My Project
Efficiency is extremely important in any classroom. I am trying to make sure that my kindergarten classroom runs as efficiently as possible to reduce transition time, which will result in more time for student/teacher interaction. We are lucky enough to have 6 iPads and 6 Osmo kits in our classroom. In order to use the Osmos, you must take off the iPad cover, which can be extremely difficult and time-consuming. The new iPad cases will help transition time by making it easier to set up for Osmo activities.
I am also trying to teach responsibility along the way, which can be a big job with five and six year olds.
I am hoping to use the new baskets to put “just right” books in them for each table of students. This way, when they are done with independent work, they will be able to grab a “just right” book and read it on their own. This will help reduce noise for other students who are still working and will also increase confidence and responsibility in my new readers.
The other items I am asking to be funded are for small group literacy activities as well as supplies we are running short on in my classroom. My kindergarteners use wider pencils to help with their pencil grips, and these wide pencils are hard to come by. Also, 5 and 6 year olds love to color and I would love to have a crayon sharpener to get more use out of the crayons we already have. Thank you for considering contributing to our classroom!
