Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The computers in our classroom are in desperate need of computer software that targets math, literacy, and computer skills.
Our kids are brilliant and they deserve basic educational resources.
Approximately 65% of our students are African American, 29% are Hispanic, and the remaining 5% is made up of Asian (Pakistani, Ethiopian, Filipino) and Anglo American students. Because we are a full Title I school a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are simply not provided enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.
My Project
The math computer games included in this proposal cover important first grade math skills such as counting, addition, subtraction, measurement, time, and geometry; the literacy games cover important phonics and phonemic awareness skills such as "sounding out" words, word families, and rhyming; and the Kid Pix software teaches kids all about the use of menus and tools while students create digital art.
It is always a great pleasure for me to see students engaged in lessons that have academic content and are also fun.
The software that you provide will form an important part of the meaningful and fun curriculum that I strive to deliver. Rest assured: your donation will make a real difference
