My Project
If you ask my students what their favorite learning activity throughout the year is, they would most likely say the Law of Sines and Cosines Escape Room. This activity uses Breakout EDU kits to create a hands-on learning experience for students. Our school library has a couple boxes that teachers can check out, but it is difficult to acquire them due to high demand. I am requesting two kits to use in my classroom and know they will make a positive impact on their learning and mental health in the following ways:
* Breakout kits strengthen social-emotional skills by encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, empathy, and perseverance.
* Breakout kits stimulate higher-order thinking skills and promotes a growth mindset.
* The escape room activities we will do foster friendly, healthy competition and provide much needed mental relief in a rigorous educational setting.
My students work hard and are extremely focused on their educational success. The activies we do that use these breakout boxes provide students with learner-centered experiences and offer valuable learning opportunites that differ from the daily structure and rigor of their advanced math classes. These boxes allow them to have fun and reduce their stress load, while still learning.
