Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This proposal requests funding to purchase a variety of educational board games that reinforce academic skills such as reading, math, vocabulary, and problem-solving for students in a special education classroom.

These games will offer a fun, engaging way to support learning goals while helping students practice collaboration, turn-taking, and critical thinking.

Many of my students benefit from alternative and hands-on methods of instruction. Traditional worksheets and lectures can be overwhelming or inaccessible, but educational board games provide opportunities for meaningful engagement and academic reinforcement in a low-pressure format. These games will be used during centers, small groups, brain breaks, and indoor recess, making learning feel like play while targeting essential IEP and grade-level goals.

Project Goals:

To reinforce foundational skills in reading, math, and vocabulary through structured play

To develop executive functioning skills such as attention, memory, and planning

To foster positive peer interaction and social-emotional growth

To provide differentiated instruction that meets diverse learning needs

To create a classroom environment where academic growth happens through movement, collaboration, and fun

These educational board games will help students achieve academic and IEP goals in a fun, collaborative way. The games support literacy, numeracy, and social development while promoting a love of learning. This project will especially benefit students who need multi-sensory instruction and positive reinforcement in order to thrive.
