Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As the only Elementary School Therapeutic Learning Center in the district, our classroom serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade with a variety of learning and behavior needs - so it is important that these students have access to appropriate tools to support both emotional and academic learning. Students in the Therapeutic Learning Center have a wide variety of learning styles and require access to a variety of adaptive tools, modified work, and specialized technology in order to access grade-level standards and meet their IEP goals.

At our school, 72% percent of students are English Language Learners and 48% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

Our students value working on, and maintaining the school garden and running the games table for students who require facilitated social interactions during recess and lunch. Our school supports a variety of special classrooms - ranging from general education classrooms to learning centers to medically fragile, so it is important that all of these students have access to the appropriate educational tools to best fit their individual needs.

My Project

Students at my school need to play skills to help with their academic skills. What do I mean you ask?

If students are to learn and have critical thinking skills, they must learn to navigate human-to-human interactions and build on their creativity skills.

Creative materials such as Duplo blocks and puzzles are key to facilitating these interactions and building on these skills

I am humbly asking you to help support my classroom and the game table area for my school by funding items that help promote healthy play and creativity skills. Some of these items we have, and yet, they have been used again and again. Therefore they need replacing. We also ask for funding to add new items as well.

Thank you for your consideration!
