Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are native residents of East Los Angeles. Inner city students that come from large families, many times with limited income or resources.

However, their families find a way to be generous and giving of what little they have.

Especially when its to the benefit of their education.

This being said, I feel bad when I have to ask for donations to keep the classroom stocked with supplies. I know that if I ask for it, I will get it, but at what cost to them?

My Project

In these trying times where the traditional classroom ceases to exist, we, "the traditional" classroom teachers find ourselves in unchartered waters.

We left our classrooms and schools behind, and along with that we left our teaching supplies and tools.

However the need to educate our youth still exists. Except now we teach from our homes.

We need document cameras, chart paper and dry erase boards to help with direct instruction at home. When I go live with my students, I need to show them how to do their math work step by step. I need to continue creating anchor charts for them. I am willing to make my home their classroom.
