I love the way that my students and the students within my school are enthusiastic about learning in a hands-on environment! The students at my school are excited and driven to create an environment that fosters learning in the real world. At every opportunity I have presented them, they have chosen a direct hands-on approach to learning from concrete sources. They are eager to get into my classroom and work diligently towards the high standards I set and the goals at hand!
Having this level of enthusiasm in my classroom everyday has inspired me.
I have spent lots of time and effort already preparing a space for this project and I know that when my students see the plan they will jump at the opportunity to complete it! I have yet to find their limits and to that end I believe that this new challenge will only push them to excel on a level they never thought possible!
My Project
These supplies are the gateway to my students learning simple construction! The lumber and fasteners are the core of any construction project, this pergola project encompasses basic construction and simple joinery as well! From the Rough Sawn Red Cedar material selection to the consideration of the mulch floor, every aspect of lasting construction has been geared toward student curiosity and education!
Every student in the school will benefit from this project!
Teachers from each subject area are already planning portions of their classes to utilize the new environment! The students in our science classes will benefit greatly from the exposure to the full spectrum of biology! This project fits perfectly into our outdoor native species butterfly garden! Our creative writing classes will have a new and exciting space to pull inspiration and relax while writing! Also our Art classes will have access to a shaded and sheltered area, surrounded by picturesque examples of native flowers and butterfly species as illustration or photography subjects!
The broad scope of benefits this pergola will bring to our school community as a whole is amazing! Literally every student that comes through our doors for an entire generation will see and feel the benefits of the space we are creating!
