Our school is a small school in Aurora, CO. We are a K-12 school with about 950 students. Of those students about 700 speak a different first language from English. In our Elementary school specifically, there are 19 different languages spoken among 467 students.
These materials will give our students opportunities to engage with the English language in various ways while being excited about the language.
They will give the students access to English through experience and hands-on materials. The materials will be used throughout all of K-5. Additionally, the materials will give the students more concrete practice with the language domains of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Our school is an inclusive and diverse world for many children and families. We strive to not only appreciate and recognize their cultures but also the languages they speak. Along with this, we provide each student with the opportunity to proficiently speak, listen, read, and write English.
We know that in 2023 our learners will become global community members. We hope to give them a well-rounded education to progress in our shared future.
