Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently work with special education and ENL students in my class. All of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. Each student comes from a family of limited resources. They require multi sensory approaches to instruction each day in the classroom. My students learn through multiple ways and various approaches. They enjoy hands on activities and learning together.
Our school is a Title 1 school and the neighborhood is a very diverse community with many low income families who have limited support.
Due to the limited resources in our school, we often do not have access to instructional tools to enhance presentation of the curriculum in order to meet the students special needs. Technology allows my students to access the curriculum in a different way.
My Project
My goal is to have my students prepared and highly qualified for a future career in a science field or engineering! Being able to learn coding will enhance their skills in this field and teach them how to apply these skills in their everyday lives.
My students learn best through hands on activities and engagement with their peers.
Receiving these bots will allow my students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. My students will learn how to code and work together collaboratively to actively engage their robots. They will learn how to extend their knowledge of coding and use it to guide their robots. The bots will be used to review the content learned in class and will enhance their computer science skills.
