My students need these Story Works magazines by Scholastics to help them enhance their reading skills so that they are successful in life and be able to hold their own in the real world.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The beauty of a rose is its blossoming pedals and not the thorns. I see my wonderful yet challenging students roses...beautiful when in bloom. I have a wonderful group of students who love to read, use technology and be creative. My fourth graders come in my classroom very eager and ready to learn something new. I educate students that live in a very rural area, where 70% of my students can not afford to bring in school supplies, yet show up to school happy and ready for their days journey.
What I love about my students in Moss Point, Mississippi, is that they stand tall like a flamingo, stay sweet like a pineapple and are hungry for knowledge and understanding.
They want to be helpful, needed, and loved. My student are special because they are mine. They believe that they can achieve their goals no matter what, they will succeed because they are all in for their future and their teachers.
My Project
All of our students want to learn and as teachers we want to be able to give them every opportunity to do just that. By having theses magazines will help my students focus on a story that will interest them. This will give them another way of mastering the skills they will need to pass the MAAP test in May and master comprehension and vocabulary skills. These magazines will help me the teacher to give rigorous work that will challenge them and push them to think differently and not be afraid to try, nor be afraid to participate in class.
