Most of my students are socio-economically disadvantaged which means they receive free or reduced priced meals and/or have parents who did not receive a high school diploma. In addition, a large portion of them are also English learners who need the extra support in language acquisition while taking academic classes. Despite these factors, my students always strive to do their best to pass their classes and reach their learning goals. They realize how important their education is in helping them attend good high schools, colleges, and eventually getting a good job.
My Project
This professional development will help to me collect important data from my planning and teaching to reflect on their effectiveness. In addition, it encourages my collaboration with other stakeholders such as colleagues, parents, and the community to bring about the best support for students to succeed. Most importantly, the professional development will push me to be critical with my practice in order to provide the best learning opportunity for the students. It will ask me to dig deeper into my thinking and justify my actions with concrete evidence/data collected along the way.
My students need me to be the best teacher that I can be to give them the best education they deserve.
What I learn from this professional development will translate into their success in school and in life.
