I have an amazing group of first graders that are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners! They are also wiggly, curious, active, and crave movement every minute of the day!
These budding entrepreneurs, scientists, explorers, innovators, artists, engineers, and future teachers have many emotions!
We all do; it is what gives meaning to life!
My goal is to enhance their learning by helping them to better understand their emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions!
My Project
“When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.”
~Dalai Lama
Beginning early in life, social and emotional learning is highly important for helping children to understand and manage their emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, set positive goals, and make responsible decisions.
Social and emotional learning provides a foundation for safe and positive learning, and enhances students' ability to succeed in school, careers, and life. This can begin in a classroom. Teachers can create safe learning environments for children to be able to talk about their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Now, more than ever, we must help children learn crucial social and emotional skills so they can become kind citizens and are equipped to cope with life’s challenges. Social skills books for kids are a useful tool to help teach social skills and tackle social-emotional issues. I am looking to build a library to help support my students to talk about their feelings, develop empathy, and identify with others.
Thank you for your consideration to donate and fund my classroom project. I know with your generosity I can continue to support my students as they learn meaningful skills to manage their mental wellness.
