My Students

In my classroom, I see about 500 students a week grades K through 4. These students come from low-income neighborhoods. I teach a specials class called "Content Literacy." The students I see are diligent, avid learners, and curious. I work with students with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets. Many of the students are English Language Learners who are learning the language and using this foundation to understand the topics we are working on.

Students explore topics that pertain to health, social studies, and science.

They are exploring new material throughout the school year. Aside from learning the material, my ultimate goal is for students to feel comfortable working in small-group settings, build character education, and cooperatively work together.

"All students can learn and achieve at high levels if given adequate time and appropriate resources and materials." -Child Up Early Learning

Having appropriate resources provides many benefits. Students are able to use the materials to further their learning. Students are able to use the materials to access content that they may have not been able to do otherwise. Manipulatives can help tactile and visual learners.

Thank you for your support. You are helping make an impact on their learning!

My Project

The materials in this project will be used to explore science through engaging means. Students will use their curiosity for hands-on activities and enriching resources. The goal of this project is to allow students to apply STEAM-thinking in meaningful ways. Students do not get many opportunities for science and social studies in the classroom. My classroom is meant to teach students 21st-century skills. Technology is everywhere! I want students to be readily-equipped and prepared for the skills necessary today.

"In education technology can be a life-changer, a game-changer, for kids who are both in school and out of school." -Queen Rania of Jordan

In my classroom, we go through the engineering process for science and social studies content objectives. I want students to build their own items with the 3D pen. The globe with being used alongside the Sphero to learn geography through locations. The Sphero will also be adapted for Exit Ticket activities. The peat pots, clay, straw building toys, and magnetic blocks will be used for engineering projects throughout the year.
