My students need books to do science research about Utah ecosystems, latch hook rug kits, and colored ink to solidify our science learning with projects!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ekins's classroom raised $997

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a Title I school. That means my students come from low socioeconomic households, and for most of them, English is not their first language. 65% of my students are English Language Learners.
Despite challenges, my students come to school each day eager to learn and take charge of their education.
I believe in empowering my students and giving them thrilling and motivating educational experiences that simultaneously improve their math, writing, reading, science and social studies skills.
My Project
Art projects are not only engaging but help create lifelong memories of elementary school. Why not combine creative projects with our science curriculum? Latch hook rugs with Utah ecosystem themes will encourage and solidify learning done in the classroom using the colorful and exciting informational texts I am requesting.
Integrating reading of engaging text for research and colorful reports by using ample amounts of colorful photographs, fourth-graders learn about science while learning how to learn.
The latch hook rugs are a long term project that will never be forgotten. Not only do the rugs highlight our science theme of Utah ecosystems, but they teach the students about sticking with a project that isn't fast or easy.
This project allows my students to have experiences with science I could not provide on my own. Hopefully, it also creates experiences that will last into adulthood and longterm memories of Utah ecosystems.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
