This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from diverse backgrounds and immerse themselves daily in the cultures of their peers through learning two languages (English and Spanish).
Our students strive for academic excellence in both languages in all academic subjects which makes them very unique.
Each child brings something special to the classroom through their experiences and areas of expertise. They make our school an exceptional place to be through their determination to be successful academically while embracing the many cultures that come together within our walls.
My Project
During the course of the year, students will be learning about various ecosystems as well as steps we can take to help preserve the earths ecosystems and animals.
A real life ecosystem in class that students can observe daily and maintain will bring their learning to life rather than limiting it to words on a page in a book.
These aquarium ecosystem tanks will help students learn the cycle of how matter passes within an ecosystem and helps things grow. They will be able to see how the excrements of an animal can be used as nutrients for producers in an ecosystem. They will also see the positive effects producers have on an environment and learn that the producers (plants) can also give nutrients to primary consumers (us or maybe another classroom pet).
Bringing hands on tanks like these not only teach students a valuable science lesson but also a valuable lesson in what it means to be an informed and eco-conscience individual in todays world. Lastly, students will also learn responsibility in caring for the fish within the tanks too.
