Economics In First Grade

Help me give my students a play cash register and other items for them to learn about economics.

My Project

One thing I teach in first grade is economics. The concepts can sometimes be hard for my students to fully understand because they do not work or pay for things on their own. I created this project so that my students can have more of a real life experience when learning about economics. I think it will help them understand the concepts better and have fun at the same time!

I would to have all of these items so that my students can have a "shopping" experience while learning about economics.

I will give my students a scenario about needing to go "buy" supplies for school. Then I will explain the store and what is available for purchase. The students will be able to buy whatever item they want. The play cash register, school supplies, candy, and toys will be perfect for this lesson! I even added little shipping carts to give a more realistic affect! After they shop, we will review needs and wants. This will then allow me to introduce cost and benefit. I think it will be a lot of fun and will help my students better understand economics.
