Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love how the students are very active in school and how they are eco-conscious. They always strive to do their best.
The students are proactive in seeking their goals.
They practice the seven habits of highly effective students which include being proactive, beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, and thinking win-win. They also practice the school "Way” of making Wise choices, Always being safe and You matter.
Our student council made the decision to be proactive in supporting our local ecology by reducing the number of water bottles in use at our school. They want to make those Wise choices in doing so, and they began with the end in mind to achieve their goals. Students strive to find ways in which all students matter by thinking win-win and finding an additional alternative.
My Project
We are campaigning to implement bottle filling stations at our school because this will help our community rethink the importance of water as the most essential resource to mankind. We choose to be part of the solution and not the problem.
This Elkay Bottle Filling Station is the most recommended water filter in the market.
We would like to have at least three stations around our campus by the beginning of next year. These bottle stations promote health by "replacing sugary beverages with water [which] can lead to lower calorie intake, lower risk of obesity, and may improve overall cognitive function (becausewater.com)."
