Eco-Feminist, Indigenous Empathy Campaign Using Virtual Reality Tools

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students, a widely diverse group of learners, are thrust into skill-building and collaborative possibilities and passions right now in high school, not just preparing for an ambiguous "someday". They might build a boat, collaborate in international partnerships, modify an engine, educate voters on initiatives, and develop geometric gardens in their four years on campus.
These incoming tenth grade students have had, at most, two months on campus as high school students, and have been trapped in Zoom and separated from their community for over a year; it's time to do an amazing project together.
Students in our team will be from across the county, from a wide spectrum of differences but with a common, united mission.
My Project
Our tenth grade students will be researching and applying their learning about indigenous and female-led environmental actions around the globe, focused on water. Is our water safe? Is theirs? Why or why not?
In this integrated, year-long project, students will collaborate across Humanities, Chemistry, Spanish, Math and more to work with environmental leaders and other students in San Diego and other US locations as well as in Chile and Bolivia, in particular.
Students will create interactive experiences using VR, connecting interviews, soundscapes, immersive visual experiences, and more in order to compel viewers to take action on a personal and community level to protect water for all.
