My Project

I teach in an IB school. An IB education is unique because of its rigorous academic and personal standards. IB programs challenge students to excel not only in their studies but also in their personal growth. The IB aims to inspire a lifelong quest for learning hallmarked by enthusiasm and empathy.

Students will be creating and observing eco-columns.

The purpose to this activity was to construct an Eco-Column and observe the functions of a closed environment containing all the factors that allow the earth to function and survive. These factors include food chains and chemical and nutrient cycles. Over the time span of a few months we tested the columns for certain nutrients using probe sensors and carefully observed the changes that took place within the column. The results of this experiment will hopefully demonstrate the actual events that could take place in nature as a result of certain changes in the environment and will show the significance of natural relationships found on Earth.
