My Project

Help 4th-grade students explore real and virtual ecosystems in a unique, engaging way! This project combines hands-on learning with digital exploration, allowing students to observe live ants in a classroom ant farm while also managing virtual ecosystems on a PS5. By comparing these two experiences, students will gain a deep understanding of how ecosystems function and the challenges of maintaining balance in different environments.

Project Goals:

• Ecosystem Basics: Learn about producers, consumers, and decomposers.

• Ant Farm Observation: Watch ants in action, recording their behavior and how they manage resources.

• Virtual Ecosystem Exploration: Use a PS5 game to simulate and manage ecosystems, applying real-world science concepts.

• Critical Thinking: Compare and contrast the real ant farm with the virtual ecosystem, analyzing differences in management.

Impact and Benefits:

• Engaged Learning: Blending real-life observation with interactive gaming keeps students excited about science.

• Cross-Disciplinary Skills: Integrates technology, critical thinking, and science, providing a comprehensive educational experience.

• Creative Expression: Students will present their findings in creative formats like posters or videos, sharing what they’ve learned about ecosystems.
