My Project

Project Overview

This project aims to promote healthy lifestyles and environmental awareness through “plogging” activities—jogging or walking while picking up litter—enhanced by interactive digital learning.

A key resource for this project is an iPad, which will allow students to explore the local environment, identify species, and document their impact using educational apps.

Goals

1. Encourage outdoor physical activity.

2. Raise awareness about environmental care and waste reduction.

3. Integrate educational technology to learn about local biodiversity and recycling.

How We Will Do It

Phase 1: Preparation and Awareness

• Classroom sessions on local biodiversity, waste sorting, and the health benefits of physical activity.

• Training on how to use the iPad with educational apps such as:

• iNaturalist or Seek by iNaturalist to identify plants and wildlife.

• Recycle Coach or other recycling apps to learn proper waste classification.

• Google Maps/Earth to plan routes and track distances.

Phase 2: Plogging Action Days

• Regular outdoor activities where students walk, jog, or bike while picking up litter in the local community.

• Using the iPad to:

• Identify local species along the way.

• Photograph and document the types of waste collected.

• Create digital maps highlighting cleaned areas and biodiversity hotspots.

Phase 3: Reflection and Community Sharing

• Students will create digital presentations or short videos showing the positive impact of their efforts.

• These materials will be shared with the school community to raise awareness and inspire others to take action.

Why the iPad is Essential

The iPad will be a powerful educational tool, enabling students to:

• Connect physical activity with real-time digital learning.

• Identify species and learn about their ecosystem while outdoors.

• Document and showcase their environmental impact.

• Develop responsible digital skills in a meaningful, hands-on context.
