Eat to Read, Pray for Books, Love to Learn!

My students need more read along books for their listening center. Also, they would benefit having thin markers with sentence strips to write after listening and reading.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My wonderful and warm-hearted students range in the age of six to seven-years old. Many of my students have obstacles blocking their success to their academic social journey. Most live in poverty, struggle with the English language and have very limited resources. Some of my students are homeless or live in foster care.

If you were to visit our classroom, you would never know my students were faced with so much adversity in their lives.

The excitement and willingness to learn is what you will see and love!

My Project

My beautiful students will continue to utilize the listening center that we received in the beginning of the school year. I would like to see more of my students reading higher level books for higher order thinking. This helps them a great deal when we learn about conferencing, questioning, and clarifying. Sometimes, students need challenging books so they can question what they don't understand and also make predictions. Good readers always monitor, question, and clarify. While listening to the books, individual students who are at or above level will have the chance to listen and read. They will have the opportunity to write questions with their new Expo markers on their new sentence strips. This will also allow me the opportunity for the students to share out. As for the teacher apron, well I'm just always losing a marker or pen or eraser (or my mind at times) so this apron will keep me organized and not running around the classroom asking the kids, "Where did Ms. C. put the eraser?" So, if I had this apron, I wouldn't have little 6-7 year olds laughing because I won't be losing my marbles!
