This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Working in a Title I school brings many challenges - socioeconomic, equity, access, homelessness and oftentimes hunger. When our students arrive for school, some are silently concerned about where their next meal will come from. We have found that having additional snacks can help ease the anxiety and give kids a little energy boost to learn. The children in our class know there is always a little treat to keep away the grumble in the tummy before or after lunch. Students get a snack to take home if they need it and we have lollipop treats on special days too!
