My Students

I am a special education teacher in a Title I School District. What does this mean? Just about 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunches. Most of the students have seen more in their short years of life than most people will experience in a lifetime.

Despite the difficulties these children face on a daily basis, they are resilient.

These kids are some of the most hard-working, determined children I have ever met.

My Project

Most days of the week, my students come to school without eating breakfast, and sometimes without dinner from the night before.

Breakfast is food for the brain.

It is so important that children eat breakfast to jump start their thinking in the morning. It is super difficult to focus on a hungry stomach which is why I posted this project. Having breakfast snacks in the classroom such as pop-tarts, granola bars and cereal bars, allows my students to not have to worry about if they will eat breakfast or not because they know there will be something for them when they get to class.
