My students attend a Chicago Public school which is located on the southwest side of the city of Chicago. The students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. The statistics of our school community is 60% Low Income, 17% Diverse Learners and 7.7% Limited English. Our school is a neighborhood school recognized for its high academic standards, Garden Club, volleyball teams and rigorous academic expectations. Talented 8th graders take algebra after school.
Students will benefit from using dry boards in the classroom. Using dry eraser markers and dry boards is a lot more fun than using paper and a pencil. Students will love working on their own dry boards. Individual dry boards are the 21st century version of the chalk slates used by student in colonial times. Dry boards are a great way of actively involving students in the learning process -- and a terrific tool for immediate feedback and assessment.
According to research students learn better when they are fully engaged and that multi-sensory, hands-on learning is the best way to engage students.
