My Students

My first grade students are an exciting bunch of kiddos to teach. We are in awe of new experiences and excited by new discoveries.

We are a curious bunch of learners that love to explore and build to better understand the world around us.

We learn best from hands on discoveries. We are building number sense with the use of manipulatives and strengthening communication through cooperative building. We are eager to share our learning with each other and help others deepen their understandings.

My Project

On any given day, students can come to school in any type of mood or with any mindset. Sometimes they are not ready to dive into their academic day immediately. That is why I would like to implement morning tubs.

Morning tubs are educational activities that students work on together during the first 10-15 minutes of the school day.

This allows students a "soft start" which is a low pressure way to start their day. They also work together on various activities, strengthening their social skills and allowing the to socialize with friends before the day begins. When morning tubs are over, the day begins!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
