This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
A lot of days children walk into my room because they are having some type of issue. The issues rage from needing their hair fixed, needing deodorant, wanting a snack, needing feminine napkins...the list goes on. These need for these things can be distracting to a child's education. They shouldn't have to worry about those things. They often don't want to go to class or break rules because they feel embarrassed or they fear getting bullied for some things that may be out of their control. The items in this cart will put their minds at ease. They will be able to just grab a bag and shop from the shelves for things that they may need. We want them to be focused on the more important things like learning. Having these supplies available takes their minds off of what people may be thinking. We are there to lend a helping hand. I've had items from donors before and they were used everyday and are still being used today. They all know to go see Ms. Williams and I am always there to help a child in need. I love being able to make their day better and boost their confidence. The smiles on their faces are what I love to see. It makes me just as happy. I want to continue being their safe haven. Funding this project could be saving lives as sometimes it only takes one good deed. One person who cares. They deserve to have these personal hygiene items at least. There are a number of low income families attending our school and they deserve to beat the odds. The sky is the limit.
