Easel Like A School Morning

My students need a teaching easel to save them from headaches and bumps on their heads!

My Students

We use our easel throughout every school day and every school day it falls on my students heads! Currently we have a broken chart stand with a dry erase board that I purchased to prop up on it. Students constantly bump into it, making the board fall on their heads while sitting on the carpet.

My students live in a high-poverty neighborhood in southeast Virginia where the majority of their education is learned only in the classroom.

They attend a school that has a 90% free or reduced lunch rate and sometimes the meals at school are the only food they will eat all day. My school is in the middle of a high-crime neighborhood and most of my students come from single-family homes. Providing a stable, trustworthy, caring, fun atmosphere for my students is all they ask and I do all I can to make those dreams come true.

My Project

The easel I am requesting is double sided. One one side, it has a blank dry erase board. The other side has a dry erase board with permanent lines that can be used for morning meeting messages, word building and so much more! The boards are also turned vertically, making it easy to write on chart paper that is hung from the rings that are connected to the top bar. The tray on the bottom will also be quite useful for holding markers, books and student work that needs to be graded. The easel also comes with wheels, which I am quite excited about! The wheels will make both sides of the easel easily accessible and it will also make it easy to move from one place in the room to another for better viewing.

This easel will solve so many problems!

Currently my chart paper and dry erase board are on the same side of a broken chart stand. I also do not have a way to make the chart paper stand up on its own, so it constantly falls off. With this easel, I will finally be able to use a dry erase board and chart paper at the same time without having to ask a student to scoot over so I can put the dry erase board or chart paper I'm not using where they are sitting! It will solve so many headaches!
