My Students

Our students learn in a diverse, neighborhood school. My students take part in a Spanish/English Dual Language program. Half of my students speak Spanish and home, and the other half are Spanish language learners. They are bright, compassionate students who have a love for school and learning.

Our students are energetic and brimming with promise, yet do not always have access to the resources they need to reach their full potential.

These children are our future and I can't wait to see where they take us!

My Project

Little learners learn best when they are seated on the carpet because they are in close proximity to the teacher and one another. Currently, the easel we have in our classroom is too tall and unstable for my kindergarteners to access easily which can cause kinked necks and uncomfortable, disengaged kiddos.

A sturdy, two-sided easel will allow my students to more actively participate during carpet time because they can more readily access the materials we are learning.

It will help lesson flow because I will be able to put chart paper or a book on one side, and a pocket chart on the other so we can seamlessly switch between activities during a lesson. Furthermore, the extra storage that this easel provides will allow me to have all of our materials organized in one place. Forgetting your markers on the other side of the room can be enough to throw the whole class for a loop and result in a near-disastrous lesson if you're not careful. Kindergarteners definitely keep you on your toes!
