Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from all backgrounds and strive to learn everything they can while in the classroom. Our school is a Title 1 that has about 99% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. It also serves a lot of our refugee population in South Salt Lake. The diversity in our classroom is so special, as each student brings something special.
They are from all ability levels but share one thing, the drive to learn.
The passion my students have makes me so proud to be their teacher, as they encourage me to continue my own education so I can provide them with the best education they can receive. I want to share all I can with them to make sure they are proficient in their foundation skills. Doing this while providing them with a safe and positive classroom atmosphere to encourage risk taking to promote learning.
My Project
Our classroom has little storage with no easel provided to help me give instruction to students effectively. This would help our small groups, help our paraprofessional come in and have something to work with, and help provided additional storage for our classroom.
It is vital for me as their teacher to provide many opportunities for engaging and effective teaching.
This easel would help contribute to our classroom, while also help us with its mobility. We are doing flexible seating in our classroom, and I need to be in many places at once. Having to constantly get up to go to the whiteboard and then also refer to our anchor chart is not effective. This easel would allow that so easy learning can occur!
