My project needs a dry erase easel learning center to facilitate cooperative learning. It is appropriately called a Teacher's Learning Center.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. M.'s classroom raised $515
This project is fully funded
I teach a fifth grade special needs class in Brooklyn, New York. These children not only have learning difficulties but have both economic and family challenges. Despite these obstacles they are eager learners with tremendous potential.
Our school building is old and there is no money in the budget to replace it's furnishings. I purchased a Dry Erase Board from a garage sale. This item has become an important part of so many lessons. Unfortunately it is worn, unsteady and no longer erases well. This is why I humbly request a new and improved dry erase board. The new easel would include many features to enhance our lessons. It is termed a Teacher Learning Center.
This year, our focus will be on grammar. My students written expressions are very weak. The easel will be used to facilitate cooperative lessons. For example, weekly I will use the board to focus on a specific skill (capitalization, punctuation, adverbs, pronouns, ...). On Thursdays one student will use the board to reteach the lesson challenging classmates to correct his/her mistakes. On Fridays they will all participate in a weekly assessment of their acquisition on that skill. That is just one example of the many uses of your donation.
Your gift will be used everyday of the year contributing to the success of each student. I hope you can appreciate the immeasurable value of your generosity. Thank you for participating in this wonderful program. You are investing in the future of these needy and wonderful children.
