My Project
Teaching phonics is such an essential aspect of a balanced literacy program. This is especially true for ELLs. For newcomers with a background other than English, phonics success is crucial for independent reading and writing. My students vary in their phonics abilities and skills across grades k-2. All my ESL students can benefit from these tools to support their reading, writing, and speaking skills.
With these materials I can work with small groups to model skills and teach across several content areas.
My K-2 ESL students can follow along easily with my small group lessons at a table. The tabletop teaching easel will be used daily for instruction so they can easily follow along. The blending board will be used for all students k-2 as we continue to review phonics skills and blending.
