Easel Does It: Reviving our Art Club

Help me give my students a kick start to our art club program at YMS. We have not had an art club since 2020 as we had to drain our funds due to Covid and have struggled since.

My Project

We've had trouble financially bouncing back after expunging our funds from Covid. My list will supply the following projects so we can bring back an art club!

9/3: Clay Hanging Planters: Students will sculpt terra cotta planter pots and learn about indigenous patterns

9/17: Planters II: Students will paint their pots and assemble with rope, soil and plants.

10/1: Suminagashi Paper Marbling: Students will trace/cut a variety of stencils and use marbling kits to color the background.

11/5: Gelli Printmaking: Students will use found objects and experiment using layering process with paint, gelli plates, and brayers.

11/19: Clay Ornaments: students will create holiday ornaments from cookie cutters and wood block stamps

12/17: Students will paint and glaze their ornaments to take home.

1/7: Shrinky dinks! Students will color their own designs, cut them out, and then bake!

1/21: Clay Valentines: Students will create clay Valentine's hearts using cookie cutters and a variety of stamps.

2/4: Clay Valentine's painting: Students will paint and glaze their Valentine sculptures

2/18: In celebration of Black History Month, students will collaborate several murals and assemble and hang them in the school.

3/25: Ch-ch-ch-Chia Pets!: Students will sculpt chia pet sculptures from modeling clay and then apply a mixture of water and chia seeds to grow!

4/8: Stone Paintings: Students will each receive a painting stone to paint, be sprayed with glaze and then placed/hidden somewhere in the school for other students to find.

4/22: Egg box flower chandelier: Students will recycle old egg cartons in celebration of Earth Day

5/6: Art at the Farm: Students will walk over to Mollie-Spencer Farm in Yukon and enjoy painting "plein air" style with easels, paint, and canvas

5/20: Tie Dye Party! Students will bring an item they want to be tie-dyed, and sent home with bags and instructions.
