This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hi! I am a Pre-K teacher and this year we have 20 eager learners in our class. The students love to try new things and explore the centers in our classroom. You can often find them making "tacos" using paper and yarn and sequins in the art center or being a waitress and taking orders for their restaurant while in the writing center. Today, I ordered fruit salad and cheese fries!
We are a title one school with a tight budget, and I try my best to fill in the gaps in my Pre-K class, for what we are missing but I need to make sure we have what we need when we change the dramatic play monthly to match our theme- currently an "veterinarian clinic" and a "farm".
In our art center, the students love to draw and paint. We would really benefit from an easel to use.
My Project
In our room, we have a bunch of different centers for learning; blocks and building, dramatic play, science, math, music, "center of the month", writing, and art. In our art center, the students love to draw and paint. We would really benefit from an easel to use. They love to create monsters- who eat grapes or to draw the "bee on me" after a student was wearing a bee costume in the science center.
Students would use the easel daily to paint on the easel, which improves hand strength because of the angle.
Students would use both tempera and watercolors to create their artwork. They would also draw (funny faces are a currently favorite) on the dry erase board and practice writing their names.
