This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very special to me. My principal never fails to mention that we teachers need to serve our students the best that we can regardless of the zip code they are coming from. Our students may not come from the best family and home situations, and some may find the school as their only safe haven or their only field trip. I want to afford my students the best learning situations where their learning will not be limited due to lack of resources. I want them to want to go to school every day.

My Project

The illuminated orbiter will help my students understand a very difficult concept in space science. This Orbiter model will help them target several concepts especially about the two major movements of the celestial bodies in space-- rotation and revolution.

Seeing the earth and moon model rotate and revolve at the same time around the sun will surely enlighten them in understanding the relationship between the three celestial bodies.

To see this in action will definitely help them visualize this rather abstract concept of space science. Sure they can model this on their own through kinesthetic activities and through paper models but a 3D model like this orbiter will surely make an impact on their learning.
