This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students absolutely love to draw! We voted to draw sea turtles as a our topic to learn about our environment and our way to celebrate Earth Day. We will be learning about the ocean and climate change and what we can do to help keep the oceans and earth clean.

Climate change has an devastating impact on turtle nesting sites, as it alters sand temperatures, which then affects the gender of hatchlings.

Nearly all species of sea turtle are now classified as endangered, with three of the seven existing species being critically endangered.

Students will learn about what we can do to help limit climate change: From the way we travel, to the electricity we use and the food we eat, together we can ALL make a difference.

Students will first draw sea turtles swimming in an ocean scene with a regular pencil. They will then use the brand-new Prismacolors to color in the sea turtles and vibrant sea scene. I want to give my students the highest-grade art materials to help create the most colorful, brilliant sea turtles!
