Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My middle school STEM classroom is a place where we try to solve the problems of the future, and we are eager to start building solutions right away.

All of the items in this project will have some benefit to our climate change learning or our carbon footprint.

For example, we currently have a 36-slot Chromebook charger, but we only have 7 Chromebooks: What a waste of energy! If we had this 12-slot charger instead, we'd be wasting a lot less power every day and doing our part to reduce our carbon footprint.

The digital picture frame would allow me to showcase student work, beautiful photos of green places, photos of environmental devastation, and more. With these photos and short videos visible to all, the imperative will be on my students to keep climate change front and center in their minds.

Toner and laminating sheets allow me to reuse paper over and over again to conserve paper and energy over the years. Plus, students love working with dry-erase markers whenever they have the chance.

The physics models are great for demonstrating the properties of energy. Who knows? Maybe our students will be able to come up with a sustainable motor after seeing how motors, solar energy, and perpetual energy machines work with these models. (Those jumper wires will be handy when they're building the circuits needed for their projects.)

I'm also asking for LEGO build plates so students can work together to create a model for future cities where everything is planned to be no more than a 15-minute walk from the center of the city.
