Earth Day Investigations Everyday

My students need composition books, colored pencils, mechanical pencils, earth day resource books and stickers, and tape to be able to conduct investigations in the field

My Students

My students lack the basic supplies needed to conduct real scientific investigations in the classroom and out in the field. These resources will give them the tools they need to record and collect data in any circumstance.

My students are eager to learn, yet many lack the basic supplies to be successful in school.

The materials requested in this proposal will allow me to provide each student with his or her own composition book and mechanical pencil to take notes and write observations in my science class. The Earth Day resource book and stickers will give me the background information to lead them and the stickers are for student motivation. 6th grade students still love stickers! Our school is in need of hands-on supplies that kids can use to learn science and especially environmental science. These composition books and mechanical pencils can be taken anywhere.

My Project

The resources I am requesting will serve as Scientist Notebooks for the kids. The mechanical pencils requested are made from recycled materials and reinforce the concept of conservation through reusing and recycling materials. Each group of 4 students that I teach will be given a set of colored pencils to share. The resource book will give me ideas about how to create learning activities that teach science content in an environmentally responsible way. The stickers requested are simply for student motivation and they reinforce the idea of Earth Day everyday through investigations. The double sided tape will allow the students to easily tape specimens from the field into their Scientist Notebook.

The items I am requesting are primarily basic school supplies that most students have.

However, for my students that is not always the case. These supplies will give these students a level playing field and allow them to learn with the things they need to be successful. Students will be able to learn science content with basic learning tools that are also eco-friendly.
