I teach in a very diverse school system with the most dedicated staff and administrators. Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. I teach in a departmentalized grade level, teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies to two homerooms.
I do everything in my power to keep my students in a safe and caring learning environment.
All of them have benefited greatly to a small group instruction and are always engaged by using using a variety of hands on materials and technology. They are always eager and excited to learn, and love a challenge
My Project
My students have been working hard in learning about the life cycle of plants. They are learning about how important it is to take such good care of plants and also the importance of having patience in waiting for them to grow.
As Earth Day approaches, it would be such an exciting hands-on learning activity for them to grow their own plants.
My project request is for seeds, pots, and garden tools to get my students started on this project. By also requesting a root viewer, this will allow my students to visually understand how certain root plants grow (i.e. carrots). My students will take their plants home and plant them in their own home garden. They will also have the option to plant their own plants in a school garden.
I have also requested 3D globe. This would be a great hands-on manipulative for the students to visually see what the Earth looks like.
