This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every day should be Earth Day! This is the message I want to instill in my 4th-grade students. I want to remind them of the importance of taking care of our planet, which begins by reading them books. The books I am asking for will kick off our Earth Day learning. They will use them to have a discussion about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

To make the lesson even more fun, they will create their own version of Earth using coffee filters.

They will draw the earth using markers we already have and then spray it with water, resulting in an abstract earth art piece. These art pieces will be hung on the bulletin board, decorated with new fans, posters, and blue lights, making an Earth Day display. This fun activity will get them excited about learning more about Earth Day.

In addition, I am also asking for snacks that will motivate my students to learn and keep them focused. Hard candy like Jolly Ranchers and mints will be eaten as they work and will also be used as incentives to finish their Earth Day writing piece
