This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Fifth grade economics is so much fun! Students learn all about the market, spending, saving, taxes, and more! In this classroom, students apply for their classroom jobs and get paid a weekly salary, while also paying rent for their desks. At the end of the week, students have the option to earn, spend, or save at the "tiendita" or store.

These prize bins will help me stock up our classroom store, which teaches my fifth-grade students the basics of economics and a very important lesson.

Students learn to value money and the importance of a work ethic. This hands-on experience is much more valuable than any curriculum can teach, because it is through experience that kids learn.

My goal is to teach students basic economic lessons while also providing a hands-on experience they will never forget! I am happy to share pictures and letters of their experiences.
