Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special because they are newly consolidated from three schools into one. They are also special because they have not had full-time music, art, or PE teacher for several years. This year is almost like opening a brand new school. The students are excited to begin a new year with new friends and families in a caring, welcoming, equipped environment.
The younger children at my school have to sit on the cold, hard floor after the older grades have brought in mud and food because their time is after lunch.
I need a carpet for my room. I also need bean bags for music games for the younger kids.
My Project
These materials will enhance the early childhood education at the elementary school I teach at. We have plenty of supplies for upper grades, but the lower grades, PK-second need some TLC. The carpet will provide more comfortable seating after having all the upper grades during the day and the bean bags will provide important manipulatives and ways of playing games to songs that are so important to early childhood music education. Passing games and seating will be easier and faster since there is a pattern on the carpet and I have manipulatives to use.
