My Project
The Early Intervention team at our Elementary services 3- 5 year old’s with various needs. The children in our Early Intervention program have developmental delays in the areas of social development, learning concepts, fine motor skills, sensory processing, and/ or communication. Our program provides play-based opportunities through hands on learning to develop fine motor, peer interaction, language, and pre-academic skills needed to be successful learners.
This playgroup provides many of our students with first time experiences that they don’t naturally find in their own homes.
More than two- thirds of the children in our school come from homes in at-risk neighborhoods and have low socioeconomic status. Our students learn to play with others, follow routines, sit for group and story time, and complete fine motor activities. These experiences help to prepare them for their next school experience of a formal preschool or kindergarten.
These enriching materials will allow us to provide a variety of experiences to keep their learning engaging and fresh! We strive to provide learning themes that continue to give children practice with basic skills in new ways with familiar materials. The new materials would allow us to create new themes like transportation, camping, and gardening as well as provide new enriching activities for our students. Our goal is to make learning fun and engaging through a play environment that allows children to freely explore their surroundings.
