My school is a public charter school providing students (learners) in grades 6-8 a hands-on STEAM, aerospace-focused, and project-based curriculum. We are the first school in the nation to be located right at an airport in Englewood, Colorado. We are part of the CDE (Colorado Department of Education) and the CCSI (Colorado Charter School Institute).
Tech class is no longer just working with typing and basic searching skills.
We are working towards getting projects for the classroom focusing on hands-on learning in a Project-Based Learning environment. Our learners are creative thinkers and very excited about learning! Our curriculum focuses on core academic competencies, in addition to key focus areas that will prepare learners for promising careers in aerospace and technology. I teach all grade levels for the Cyber-Space class.
My Project
Our learners have had a tricky year and not all of them have earbuds or headphones to use at school or home.
This project will provide 125 earbuds for learners who need them.
This is a basic supply on our school supply list; however, many learners don't have them or lost theirs. I want to be able to start the year fresh with headphones. They can be used for videos in class, for independent work time, and to connect to a micro:bit to a speaker and hear their results. They can also be used for state testing. Additionally, it is important that the learners do not share headphones or earbuds right now for their health.
