The students in my room all come from very different socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is a Title 1 school and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I also have students in my room who receive a backpack each weekend that is full of food for them to eat while they are not at school. This can make a huge difference for those students when they come from high poverty situations.
I want my students to feel like they are cared for and I want them to know I have done my best to provide a variety of resources and opportunities for them in the classroom.
Many of my students do not have the resources at home to work on assignments/activities, so I try my best to give them those opportunities at school. This project will give me the chance to improve my classroom and help my students be successful learners.
My Project
I try to incorporate a variety of learning opportunities into my classroom on a daily basis. I use whole group instruction, small group instruction, and individualized instruction by using learning centers. Each student learns in their own way so it is important to provide them with multiple opportunities to meet their needs.
Integrating technology into part of their daily routine makes a big difference because they are eager to use technology tools to complete tasks and improve their learning.
Having new headphones for them to use will make a huge impact in my classroom. The headphones or earbuds they currently have are not a great quality so they are already broken, which means several of my students do not have the proper tools to complete tasks. The new and greatly improved headphones would help them successfully complete their assignments.
