This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Eager second graders to get on the computer daily for intervention and research purposes. They are all looking out for their turn to complete lessons and assignments. Lack of headphones and fast computers is a daily challenge on a typical day for my students.
Our school is 80% ELL Spanish speaking that come from low income families.
Many of them are not exposed to the Internet or computers at home. They look forward to arriving and completing their assigned computer lessons which we assign depending on their specific needs. They are fully engaged in learning and eager to complete assigned tasks on a daily lessons. Our classroom has three working computers with two headphones because of the constant use. Students in our school all mostly on free or reduced lunch status, which makes it difficult for parents to help out with classroom needs.
My Project
Students will be able to use the headphones at student station computers without disturbing the rest of the class. Tablets can be readily available for students to use for research while in class since home situations do not provide such technology. Class printer will be there for students to print out all sorts of needed research or project needed to complete assignments. The ink will be there and sufficient for the rest of this school year.
These donations will accommodate our class needs for this school year and provide these eager second graders the materials to increase and facilitate learning.
The students will have all they need to engage and promote the learning in our classroom every day. It will impact their ability to complete assignments at home using all the resources in their own classroom.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
